β β β β β Best I've tasted so far in Ipoh. I think the soup don't have MSG as I don't feel thirsty after meal. Everyone was satisfied with the food. Whole chicken price is RM66 which I feel it cost slightly above, but you'll forget it after the nice meal. I'll return again whenever I'm in Ipoh.

β β β β β This is by far the worst restaurant you wanted to visit. Only a negative 5 star be the right reflection on how they treat customers.
Finished my dinner with family and stranded in the restaurant due to heavy rain. Our table was not affect by the rain, but workers and boss asked us to move to another table citing that rain water is not splashing over the suggested table so that our table can be used to serve another customer. When I asked them why don't the customer who just came in sit on the table suggested to us, only then they admit that the table suggested affected by rain water. So this is technically chasing away customer just to facilitate another customer . Very bad business ethic
Btw, the food quality is below average.

β β β β β Food used to be very good but quality declined in recent visits. Beansprouts were not as fresh as one would expect of Ipoh's standards.

β β β β β Very disappointed with the food and its getting pricier during my recent visit here. I used to frequent this place but not anymore. The taugeh is overcooked and the chicken they used is frozen and it's not thaw properly which leads to the quality of the meat. Even the noodles is a failure ?.

β β β β β When we arrived at around 6 it was already packed. We had to wait for quite a long time for our dishes to be served. We were greatly disappointed by the supposedly main star of the place. The steamed chicken was so rubbery and tough to chew. The hor fun was lacking in flavour but the hor fun itself was super smooth. The taugeh was alright but the chilli was disappointing as well.

β β β β β The Kueh Teow soup is nice, but the chicken is just as ordinary, quite tasteless having taken kampung chicken most of the time. The long waiting time is a further deterrent to stay away.

β β β β β They truly only open for business at 1700hrs. We were there early at 1645hrs, and they asked us to wait a while.
As we were their 1st customers, the lady was nice to go through what they have (don't think they have a menu). We ordered chicken for 2 pax, a bowl of kuey teow soup, meat balls, and a plate of taugeh.
The chicken - poached and drizzled with premium soy sauce and garnished with scallions and cucumber. As the whole chicken is smallish, each piece of cut chicken size is small, but the meat live up to Ipoh standard, i.e. must be smooth and tender.
The taugeh - need not to comment as any taugeh in Ipoh has that standard. Guess if anyone serves other types of taugeh, they will get scolded. The only difference is how long the taugeh are blanched and their respective signature sauce to make the difference to be better than the next. Here, they did it well as expected.
The kuey teow soup - the noodle texture is smooth as expected, but the soup is a tad too sweet; to the extent, it tasted not real. Just puzzled why the taste is as such, as they need not use any msg or flavour enhancer, etc. (suspect that they do that). In view of the amount of chicken they have to poach, the soup base should be tasty enough without further enhancement.
Meat ball - just ordinary and nothing to shout about.
Verdict:
Probably it is our expectation that they should be better than the touristy locations e.g. Lou Wong, or Onn Kee and the likes, but we could not attest or support this expectation.
In our opinion, at best they can only match the touristy ones. We are not saying it is not nice, it's ok, especially if you are in Buntong. Otherwise, one need not come all the way to Buntong to have the Ipoh famed taugeh chicken. Those downtown, touristy ones are good enough.
Thus, will we return to Buntong to have this Ipoh famed dish? No, we will not, as we will just have those downtown ones to save time and petrol.

β β β β β There are many people here, but we did not wait for long for the food to arrived. The food portion is huge and the price is actually very reasonable. Plenty of parking spaces. The food is ok too. Only the char siew taste not really nice. Overall good experience and recommend here.
