After reading all the negative comment, I was reluctant to go there but my friend insisted. This Dr is actually like an old wise grandfather. The way he say things are very direct and that might sounds rude if you’re very sensitive. I actually enjoyed the conversation with him because I learned so many things about budgies which is definitely not available in Google. Yes, he might not have all the equipments as he is a retired Dr from Zoo Negara and currently treating his β€˜patients’ from his home. But, he is definitely not the Dr who strips your money for nothing. I paid RM125 for: 1. Endless QnA 2. Bird food recipes 3. Bird care advices 4. Vitamins 5. Bird basic health checkup 6. Evaluation of bird droppings And I got a free feeding syringe too ?

IMPORTANT NOTES TO ALL PET OWNERS!! I hope my sharing could save many more innocent pets in future. Please think carefully before you decide to bring your beloved pets to see this vet, only do so if your pets CAN LIVE TWICE! Please ignore other positive comments and look into negative comments and you will realize many similarities in the bad experience shared by respective owner. I was the victim and I'm deeply regret for bringing my beloved red eared slider to seek for his medical advice. I chose to accept your egoness, condescending, disrespectful to the elderly, humiliation and insult being done to me and my family simply because my pet was desperately required your medical attention at that point of time, not because you are right, old man! You failed to understand our anxiety but asked us to keep our mouth shut in a very rude manner while conducting your online class and treating my pet at the same time. We stood there helplessly but to wait until you finish you online class with the student. If you were so busy, please don't ask us to come and wasting the golden hour to save our pet. This is very unprofessional and unethical! Worse still, I brought my pet as she was in critically illness after the first treatment which I can strongly sense something was terribly wrong with my pet for being a non-medical expert, but you told me she was doing good, just need some time to recover after taken anesthetic. You even insulted me for asking me to use brain to think. You confidently told me it wasn't a life-threatening case, so I felt relieved because the false hope you had given. Ironically, my pet died few hours later! With over 40 years of experience, can't you diagnose the problem properly? Shame on you, old man! I hope other pet owners will make a right decision for your pet after reading my very bad and unfortunate experience. This old man is an unreliable but an arrogant vet! Wearing scrubs doesn't mean you are a notch higher than anyone else!

I was recommended by one AMC staff to get Doctor Vellayan’s service for my rabbit. Doctor Vellayan is operating from his own house and it is located near Zoo Negara. Little did we know he actually served as Zoo Negara’s vet for 27 years. He is so professional, knowledgeable and very informative. He is kind, caring and attentive to our rabbit. So basically our rabbit’s fur is shedding, and awaiting for the new fur to comes out. He taught many new things to tackle rabbits, including how to hypnotise them and what food rabbits should consume that rich of nutrients. He encouraged us to utilise benefit from natural resources for our rabbits such as hibiscus, mulberry, spinach, sugarcane, banana stem and banana leaves. He even supplied us with a copy of notes on how to care for rabbits. Since he know we have two other rabbits at home, he provided us with vitamins and calcium supplement for all three rabbits. He gave us pen and pencil to jot down some important yet informative points, and allowed us to ask questions as much as we want at the end of the session. We feel glad and thankful for such an opportunity and we hope Doctor is blessed with a good health for his kindness and services he has provided throughout his years. This place is highly recommended to treat your animals however you have to be mindful to invest some of your time waiting and be more open minded in question and answer sessions throughout the treatment. Thanks Dr!

The pigeon I took there, died few days later. Unfortunately, he couldn't diagnose the problem. After observation of the conditions he was in, I did a whole lot of research on it. It's a very common infectious virus among birds that will cause paralysis as time passes. Such as their necks will bend, they lose their ability to fly and they can't even control their eyelids anymore. And eventually the pigeon will suffer and die. But the doctor gave us vitamins and so, which were obviously not the right treatment. I would've gave 5 stars if he could only make a right diagnosis and let us know that this pigeon will eventually die, so we should avoid shoving food and vitamins down the throat forcefully. He will ask you to do some stuff such as taking notes and all. In my opinion, it's a good thing for others to learn a few things, such as myself who studies zoology/biology, however, some people are not interested in learning and want to simply pay to solve the case, which is completely reasonable. That's why we pay our doctors and trust their diagnosis, treatments and even their opinions on the matter. Academically speaking, I'm sure he's a very good teacher, as he he insists on you to focus, take notes and help out with the process, however, the pet owners are simply not his students. Therefore, I understand the reviews on his social interactions as well.

Brought my bunny boy to him at 11pm as he is the only one available at that time. My bunny didn’t eat and poop for more than 12 hour and he look unenergetic. Dr Vellayan was so warm and kind. He gave my bunny a jab, vitamin, calsium, sugarcane, some stems. He share a lot of information how to handle rabbit. How to hypnotise rabbit. Type of food to feed rabbit. He is very knowledgeable about exotic animal. Glad to know him.

Dr. Vellayan is a very nice man. He looked after my 10 days old guinea pig baby today and he gave me some hope that this little fella will survived. I had given up on her, but he gave me words of wisdom not to give up and he even convinced me that she is progressing towards her full recovery. I understand some might not see eye to eye with him given that sometimes he might sound a little condensending, but that's how he is. He has sense of humor that some might not take it well. All in all, a wise man with good heart. Hopefully my baby pet will recover.

Went to Dr Vellayan for my pet cortunix quail that got her leg and wing bitten by a cat. He promptly did suturing on her, and she is healing well now, after one week! Although he takes awhile to warm up to you, he is very kind and knowledgeable in his practice. I am very grateful because any other normal vet clinic in the area would not be able to help my β€œexotic” pet.
