As a parent of a student in SMIS, the teachers and principals have a really bad attitude. They do not listen to parents or students advice to make this school a better place, they only care about money. They have really absurd rules such as banning phones, electronics and much more. The internet is a really good tool to help students to learn so I find no reason to disallow it. Although the school fees is attractive compared to other international schools out there, the quality of this school is definitely worse !

Just came back from a night mare school tour. OMG within the first 5 minutes of tour they straight away talked about the school fees without even completing the school tour. They were not interested at all to bring us around the school , we were not allowed to see other facilities and sports centre too. They sent the finance guy to do the school tour which had a little knowledge about the school.Huge dissapointment!

NOTE: THIS IS FOR THE SECONDARY SECTOR ONLY, SOME REVIEWS HAVE BEEN RATING THIS SCHOOL 5 STARS, AS THIS ALL COMING FROM THE PRIMARY SECTOR. As an ex-student (Year 7- 11) of Stella Maris, I suggest (in other words, to save your money to enroll your child to another school) to not send your child here. There have been many problems that have been accumulating over the pass few years, and I shall share this with parents about having the thought of sending your child here. For starters, the quality of this school overall is the same as a government school. Take this school as a government school, but with aircons. As for the teaching quality, ever since the original staff of Stella Maris has left the school, the school has been constantly changing teachers in the span of 2-3 years. I personally had my teachers swapped multiple times before my major exam (IGCSE), and this became quite hard for me to study/learn the syllabus. For example, my Chemistry teacher was swapped about 3 times in a year, this resulted me into falling behind the subject and i was forced to study through Youtube. Fortunately they found a permanent replacement during year 11, but was quite late as Year 10 were the foundation studies for year 11, therefore i could not keep up. Some teachers join Stella Maris to gain experience for teaching, which will be used to enroll for another higher paying school in the future. This resulted the teaching quality to drop drastically. The teachers teach too fast or either too slow. As of now, the school is currently finding new teachers to replace the other teachers that have been leaving, some of them teaching for less than a year. My next issue would be the facilities. You may or may not have seen a swimming pool in the school's website that has been advertised and was open to use. Sadly, it isn't very "open to use" as you think it is. The swimming pool (or as I like to call it: The Secondary leaf collector) is off limits, as it is only available for students to use only if they pay for ECA (Extracurricular activities) under swimming. Students who do not pay, aren't allowed to use it or even go near it. The sports center is also rarely used , unless it is Games or P.E period, and even in P.E it is rarely used. The badminton courts used by the school is a combination of the center, the road (which is dangerous in my opinion) and the assembly area (which is also the basketball court). This matter leads me to my next issue, the constraint of space. This school does not have enough room to fit their students. As I stated, some facilities are shared between different other facilities. The classrooms are quite small and students are forced to share a classroom of over 20 students, which makes the learning environment to deteriorate overtime. Some classes have to be shared between 30 over students, they practically did not have any space to study at all. In conclusion, I suggest you to not send your child to this school and continue to look somewhere else. Trust me, the continuation of your search is more worth than what this school has to offer. An informal way of saying this is: Don't get baited by the low prices that has been offered, as they are quite desperate for students. It really is not a good environment here and I hope this small essay of information was enough to give you a glimpse of what the school looks like and its standards.

As a primary student of Stella Maris I love this school. It is amazing I love it. And all the bad comments are just lies. Don't trust them. I don't even want to know why they have to lie literally. The teachers are nice they aren't bullies not even the most strict teacher is. The people that say the teachers are bullies probably have never been to the school. PS don't send your kids to this school they say they might cut the year 6 because of over population

Honestly, this school isn't as bad as some of these reviews (or actually, all of them) say. I have been in SMIS since 2017 and I still am now. There are some things that could be improved like the massive overcrowding between the middle schoolers and high schoolers, but it's still a good school. Oh, some reviews say that the disciplinary teachers are rubbish. Honestly, as long as you don't cause any trouble, the teachers won't tail you.

Please get a replacement for the secondary school head teacher, as for the current head teacher are so arrogant, very unprofessional and dont even have decency to replied parents phone call. Besides that she's is also very rude and i believed she did not know how education system works in Malaysia. Despite of this problem, please someone in the management at least advise her on the hygiene/ her smell is really bad. It's really disturbing especially when you as a Head Teacher dealt with parents/ outsider. Apart from that i would STRONGLY suggest to this SCHOOL MANAGEMENT, PLEASE SAVE YOUR SCHOOL. WE need more professional HEAD TEACHER or other words, LOCAL HEAD TEACHER who know how to handle the issues with the parent. WE NEED SOMEONE WHO FAMILIAR WITH EDUCATION SYSTEM. Thanks.

I am a student in smis and there’s many very very bad qualities about this such. There’s never an ECA period and not only that the teachers care about them self more then other students and often change teacher bc of other higher paying jobs. The discipline teacher called miss β€˜Caroline’ is a very bad teacher in my opinion. She walks around and shouts at student was are not sitting around. They don’t like you to talk to other students but at the same time want u to socialize. This school is like government school with aircon and IGCSE syllabus. There’s also many promises that have never been made such us opening the swimming pool for all student not only for the one that paid. The Performing art teacher has also have many troubles connecting and building students for speeches etc. Some teaches just rolled their eyes at you when they are annoyed and I feel that it’s very unprofessional. They also made a ban to gadget which I feel very bad as we are living in the 21st century and it’s one of the most common thing. In addition, students can learn from the internet. The ICT teacher is just old and might not know much about technology and the science teacher miss Brenda is very useless. She uses copy and paste instead of letting student do things because she is lazy to mark . I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL!

1) Some lousy and uncaring teachers. If you improve yr mark, teacher suspect you cheat during exam. One of the discipline teacher only know how to compliant to parents, instead of guiding them. 2) sports facilities - basically off limit to students, other than extra-co activities that normally parents need to pay to external coach. After switching school, my kid is happier now with improved marks
