Tunamaya Beach & Spa Resort - Tioman Island

Location: Private and tucked away from the masses, this resort has its own beach and a beautiful mountain as its backdrop. Crystal blue waters and white sandy beach completes the whole amazing look. Accommodation: Clean, modern chalets with a beach or garden view. Good for families and friends getaway. Service and facilities: Service is slow, from check in to restaurant service. As there is only wifi at the lounge, the staff recommended us to purchase satellite internet. However they did not mention earlier that chalets located in the middle would not receive any signal. Should improve on customer service, especially in being honest with providing information.

The service average, the food is BAD and expensive, not many activities, boring to stay.

Staff was very pleasant and rooms were nice, comfortable. location was strategic and beach was beautiful but unfortunately less live corals so can't really snorkel there. Swimming pool was clean and good location to enjoy the breeze. Only negative would be the food, very staple menu and if u stayed there and didn't go anywhere you would be stuck with food choices.

Despite a welcoming team, a friendly diving school, a good spa and a stunning environment, it is difficult to forget the poor food quality and the overall decay of the resort... The value for money is clearly not good.

We took the wanderlust package and went 1 week after chinese new year, had the resort completely to ourselves, The resort was quite secluded, after arriving to genting jetty the resort picked us up and it took about 10 minute boat ride to reach our final destination The place was beautiful with high majestic mountains at the back and glass clear waters at the front. The beach were amazing, filled with different types of fishes, baby sharks, baby stingrays and crabs hiding out by the rocks. With the shallow waters we could literally walk about 100m to the sea, perfect for snorkelling, however its also filled with dead corals and shells and stones so its best to wear your aqua shoes The resort also had a small river in between the chalet, filled with fresh water fishes, frogs and also lizard, a great view The also have a pool for when ure tired of swimming in saltwater The room was great, the bed could be better, had the beachfront deluxe, just a few steps away from the beach, slept with the sound of waves Had a couple massage and facial as well, quite pricey but the service was top notch, The staffs were great and friendly, the food delicious, they have a proper chef and because it was only us, they didnt provide a buffet and instead we could order anything from the menu and all the food taste awesomee, except for the french fries its thick and oily otherwise 100% All in all we had a great experience, worth the price and great for friends and families especially those wanted privacy and peace of mind Thank you tunamaya

I assume that Covid hit the resort and the staff badly unfortunately. The rooms and facilities have a lot of potential, a pitty to not seem them utilized. Food choice is limited and really not nice (if you ask the chef his favorite dish and the answer there is none, it's a sign). Two out of three had stomach issues. Pool and it's surrounding are dirty. Restaurant has good bones, not no spirit and you can smell the soul. Around reception and beach, stairs and paths are not maintained. A lot of broken tiles and stairs, could not let my toddler walk freely. Trying to change surroundings was undoable: had to book at least a day in advance for a boat taxi and pay RM 400 for a return for that, no other options. Tried to book a snorkel trip but dive center was closed all the time. We did enjoy our room: clean and maintained! And the spa, we had a real nice massage. I hope they change back to previous state, looking at the reviews it used to be a great place!

you can enjoy your holiday here. such a peacefull place to go and relax. the food was delicious, the view were very nice, at the back of the resort you can see the green scenery which very calm. the service and all the staff were good and friendly. the resort is so clean.

Staff are nice, friendly and helpful. However, can see that they were understaffed but still trying their best to accommodate all the guests. The room is generally clean but the furnishings is worn down. Need some maintenance. Since it's a private beach, you can only get food from the hotel and they don't serve a la carte. So be prepared to have your lunch and dinner buffet style. Bad for family with young kids who don't each much. Alternative, you can take a taxi boat about $RM 120-200 one way) to the nearest village (K.g. Mukut) which has nice restaurant with cheap affordable food. Or you can take a nice 1.5 hours hike to the village but recommend to do it with a guide or in big groups. The path is not that straight forward but generally safe to take. There is also a nice waterfall called Asah Waterfall that you can go to which is another 1 hour from the village. You can rent a motorcycle to bring you closer to the waterfall if you are not keen on hiking. But the main star is the long beautiful beach which is right in front of your hotel. Gives you the Maldives vibe. We could spend hours at the beach exploring the Coral, rocks and fishes there.
