Rawa Island Resort

I love this island, its gorgeous. Snorkeling is a must, do not miss this, better bring your own gear + booties as it can be rocky. Food is okay (at least they provided a variety) but the Fri / Sat night bbq night was good. Room is very basic, no TV, no kettle, no fridge. Bring your own snacks! You are provided with 3 meals a day (all buffet), otherwise, have to order separately and it is very expensive. No wifi in the rooms, just at the restaurant although not very strong either. As long as you have your own data plan, it should be okay. Rates are expensive I must say, equivalent to going to Pangkor Laut Resort. This Rawa resort is 3.5 stars at best. So because there is absolutely nothing to do on this island, its better to go with some friends! And of course, kids loved the water slides!

I made reservations for this resort for Aug’20 and rescheduled to Aug’21 due to the pandemic. I paid for my stay in full. I am no longer in SE Asia and asked in July’21 to discuss either a refund or transferring reservations to a friend. They stopped replying to emails and nothing has been done. I hate having to post a review like this, but it has been 6 months and I have no other way to get their attention. So sad to have been scammed by these people, travelers beware.

Great place to chill n be away from d hustle n bustle of city life. Picturesque, great food, clean beach, crystal clear water, small crowd, nature at its best ~ one can even walk or jog around d island n climb d hill top n absorb d spectacular view

This place is great, suitable for a big family to have short vacation here but if i were to be very honest, i think the price of RM1000++ for 3d2n is quite expensive compared to what i got during my stay here. 1. The meal (buffet) included in the package was pretty decent. Plenty of choices of what to eat, from western to asian dishes. 2. The room has variety of choices, depending on the price u pay. It comes in 3 if im not mistaken; water front, beach front, and hill front. Rooms with great view, of course, have higher price. Mind you that there is no tv in the room because they already put one in the lobby. Hairdryer and iron needs to be asked at the reception and it took them some time to get those things for u. 3. I think one of the biggest attractions here is the giant water slide bcs yeah, never have i ever seen in my life, a water slide by the beach. There are only 2 slides, the long orange one and the (really) short blue one. 4. The price of RM1000++ for 3d2n doesnt include all the water sports there as u need to pay extra for every water sport activities u would like to join. It is advisable to rent the life jacket as well, bcs the water level is not kids friendly (and adults who dont know how to swim like me). 5. If u go here, dont forget to take the opportunities to watch the sunrise bcs the view is so mesmerising. I missed the chance to watch the sunrise on the 2nd day and when i came back for the 3rd day it was cloudy back then. Not to mention that u should take a walk around the island, took me about 45 mins to finish walking around the island. The trek is tiring bcs we need to hike a bit but i can guarantee u it is so worth it.

Pros- nice view, clear water, nice food, nice soft beach sand, water slide, hot and cold shower and aircond rooms, snorkeling, kayaking, peacocks and bats around the resort, relaxing, quiet, nice hike and hill top view and the music near the jetty area. Cons- bed room is very dim lighting, some bedrooms has no balcony, single beds only has 1 pillow, water taste strange, chairs near the jetty area are always wet and mosquito in the rooms.

The positives first. The location is great, quick and easy to get to from Singapore. The service upon arrival at the jetty was efficient and organised. The staff on the island are lovely, very friendly and helpful. The sea and the beach are very clean. The coral reef is amazing and so many fish. The slides were also a big attraction for the kids. The could do better: the rooms are clean and everything works but they are a little tired and could do with a little work. Like the tap in our bathroom was leaking. The food could also do better. There was a wide selection on offer but not much choice for vegetarians and I think if you are vegan there is only salad available. Overall a great place to spend the weekend. Very relaxing and chilled out with enough activities to keep everyone busy.
