1) it was a last minute booking. I read all these lovely reviews, called in the day before to enquire, and was told the price is RM330/pax per night for full board. I asked if we needed to pay booking fees ? The manager said no need . Just come anytime we want , let him know the time and he will arrange for speedboat to pick us up. What a great start to a fabulous holiday , so we thought, very accommodating. 2) when we arrived the resort , we were escorted to our chalet. The introduction was very brief. Room wise , super basic . No common amenities. I nvr been to other island resorts around Johor /east coast area except for beach resort like YTL Pangkor Laut/ Tangjung Jara, Club Med. maybe it’s entirely different concept (and different price range ) But RM660++ /night, having some drinking water, mini fridge , and water heater in the room will be great. 3) We were not briefed what we could do at the resort. We were the only guests, and staffs were not seen easily. We had to “look for them” for example , we wanted to use the snorkelling goggles, nobody was there at the hut. When we saw someone far away , he signalled we could take anything on our own. But we were so clueless,- where was the good spot to go, whether we could use the kayak..etc. 4) food was decent. Lunch was a fish dish with rice, with a side of vege clear soup. I learned later if I had not chosen full board, we had to pay rm50/pax for that meal. Which was insane. Dinner was BBQ , they served us. Portion was great this time (RM70/pax if not full board ) Breakfast was borderline so-so. 5) lastly, we had to cut our stay short ( cannot say I wasn’t happy about it) . Upon checkout, we learned resort changed us RM120/pax for boat transfer . Which wasn’t disclosed when we called in . The charges not transparent. In the end . We paid approximately RM1100 for 1 night stay , (including 2x Tiger Draught Beer @RM25/mug, and 2 Carlsberg can @RM18/can, ++) To summarise this trip : I felt like I was left on an isolated untouched island , with basic necessities given (food, toilet, and bed with mosquito netting) but to pay RM1k for our 1 night stay ? Maybe not. (Agoda shows RM405 per room per night , not sure if we got a much worse off deal by calling in to the resort directly)

Its a wonderful place to let your hair down. Theres nothing to worry about. For food: The food is amazing. You are never gonna expect what kind of food will be presented for you. You might not like the food there if you dont like fish. Room: The rooms are very traditional. It is tidy and doesnt smell at all. Be prepare if you cant stand cold shower. They do not provide any shower equipments as well. Environment: it is very clean and you can explore everywhere freely. Its beautiful and clean. Staff: they are the best crew i ever know. Chat with them anytime you want! Activities:.You can do snorkelling, jungle trekking and exploring you can do whatever you want! Overall, definitely worth to go there. You will love it and you will want to be there again..

Rimba was a dream. The hospitality was outstanding! Would 100% go back to do my diving course there as the instructors are very well versed. Also, the food was fantastic and the kitchen was very flexible in accommodating other types of diets. Views were top notch - corals are in abundance and during our snorkeling trip we saw a reef shark. Such a rare gem, would definitely recommend a trip to this place. ??

Stayed for 5 days spending NYE here and we absolutely loved it! Very accommodating, great food, friendly and fun staff. If you like nature and being a part of it, then this is the place! Open air wooden huts, open air bathroom, lovely balcony facing the ocean. Due to weather conditions we couldn't do any snorkeling or diving, but we had a fantastic time chilling at the bar, playing games and hiking. Great escape!

I had a wonderful weekend at Rimba Resort with friends and family this past weekend. The resort is very simple - huts with mosquito nets around the bed, fans above the bed, a basic bathroom and a deck with a couple of chairs to relax - which was all we we needed for our low tech, unplugged weekend away. The information provided before our trip was very thorough and helped to to know exactly what to pack and expect. When we arrived the staff gave us a run down on the resort when we arrived, and as we had more questions they filled in any gaps - otherwise we were left to our own devices. The food was delicious and as someone who follows a gluten free diet I was extremely happy with the variety of food that was able to cater to my dietary requirements. The staff were fantastic with our whole group - from running a wonderful snorkeling trip out on the boat, to being wonderful with the three girls (aged 10 - 12) in our group and making them feel like they were important guests. A special mention goes out to Briony in particular for this! We will absolutely be returning to Rimba Resort in the future, and highly recommend to anyone interested in a rustic weekend away.
