★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 车水路观音寺 Burma Road Guan Yin Sek is a famous Taoist temple, first built in the early 1920s and rebuilt in 1962, it's one of the oldest temple in Penang. The temple consists of three halls, namely 圆通宝殿(main hall), 九皇殿(Nine Emperor hall) and 城隍殿. Each hall houses a group of deities.
The Nine Emperor Gods Festival is a nine-day Taoist celebration beginning on the eve of 9th lunar month of the Chinese lunar calendar, this is the major event for this temple.
九皇大帝又称九皇爷、九王爷、九皇，是道教和民间传说的星神。九皇大帝为北斗七星星君（贪狼、巨门、禄存、文曲、廉贞、武曲、破军）加上左辅、右弼两星君的合称。

The Emperor of the Nine Emperors is the collective name of the two stars of the North Dipper (Golden Wolf, Giant Gate, Lu Cun, Wen Qu, Lian Yi, Wu Qu, and the broken army) plus Zuo Fu and Zuo Yu.

位于车水路观音寺创建于1922年，过后再重新扩建于1962年，至今已有98年历史。观音寺庙供奉有九皇大帝，关帝圣君，太岁爷，虎爷公，城隍公，大二爷伯，弥勒佛，释迦牟尼，韦驮菩萨，伽蓝菩萨。寺庙内旁的九皇大帝每年农历九月初一至初九热闹非凡。

Located in Cheshui Road, Guanyin Temple was founded in 1922 and then re-expanded in 1962. It has a history of 98 years. The Guanyin Temple enshrines the Nine Emperor Gods, Guandi Sages, Tai Suiye, Tiger Grandpa, Chenghuang Gong, the Second Grandpa, Maitreya Buddha, Sakyamuni, Weituo Bodhisattva, and Garan Bodhisattva. The Nine Emperor Gods next to the temple are very lively every year from the first to the ninth day of the ninth lunar month.
